About Klondike Solitaire

The solitaire everybody knows

If you ever played the card game that came with Windows, it was Klondike. You get 52 cards: 28 are dealt into seven columns, with only the top card of each column face up, and the other 24 wait in the stock pile.

How it works

Build the columns downward in alternating colors, for example a red 7 on a black 8. Aces go up to the four foundation piles, where each suit is built from Ace to King. Only a King can fill an empty column. Click the stock to turn over new cards.

There are two difficulty options: draw one card at a time (easier) or three at a time (harder). Luck matters, since some deals can’t be won, but planning matters more. Turn the face-down cards over early, and don’t empty a column unless you have a King ready to put there.

Other solitaire flavors here: Spider Solitaire Classic and Freecell Classic.
